World Languages-Spanish: Media & Entertainment Concentration, Bachelor of Arts
Specific Admission Requirements
Students must be receiving a BA in Spanish to complete the Media & Entertainment Concentration. Students must have intermediate Spanish proficiency to be admitted into the concentration. Students will have to complete a Modified Oral Proficiency Interview (MOPI) to determine their level.
Student Learning Outcomes
Spanish-Language Media Majors will achieve a level of proficiency in Spanish communication skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and in the understanding of Hispanic cultures sufficient to allow them to function effectively in careers in media and entertainment
These outcomes will be achieved by focusing on the 5 C’s:
Communication: Students can communicate effectively in oral and written form, interpret messages, show cultural understanding when they communicate, and present oral and written information to various audiences for a variety of situations and purposes in Media.
Cultures: Students can interact with cultural competence and understanding by becoming attuned to Latinx cultures in the U.S. and beyond.They use the language to investigate, explain, and reflect on the practices, products and perspectives of Latinx cultures
Connections: Students are able to connect their knowledge and understanding of Spanish-language and Latinex cultures to the field of Media.
Comparisons: Students are able to compare and contrast Spanish language and cultures with other languages and cultures in the U.S in order to act with intercultural competence. They discover patterns, make predictions, and analyze similarities and differences.
Communities: Students form a community of practice around Spanish-language Media and participate directly in Latinex communities. They interact with linguistic and cultural competence.

A Spanish Language senior portfolio consisting of professional media projects. These must be exhibited through ARC410
