Microcredentials
A microcredential is an umbrella term for several types of small-scale, skill-based, earned recognitions of proficiency in a designated competency or set of competencies that can be directly linked to career growth, career change, or professional development.
Microcredentials can be a combination of credit and non-credit offerings up to 9 credit hours.
Microcredentials have stand-alone value and may be stackable to earn a higher credential, including certificates or degrees.
Microcredentials must include assessment based on clearly defined standards to corroborate the skill, competency, or knowledge in its learning objectives.
A sharable digital badge is awarded upon successful completion of microcredential requirements, but the microcredential is not transcribed on a student’s transcript.
