Exception to Domicile Requirements
Students may be exempt from the one-year domicile requirement if they meet an exception in one of the following categories.
Colorado High School Graduates
Students who complete high school in Colorado will be granted in-state tuition if:
- The student attended a public or private high school in Colorado for at least one year immediately preceding the date student graduated from a Colorado high school or the student was physically present in Colorado for at least one year immediately preceding the date the student successfully completed a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) in Colorado and
- The student has been present in Colorado for at least 12 consecutive months prior to enrolling in an institution.
Applicants are required to provide proof of high school attendance to the Office of Admissions at info@csupueblo.edu or 719-549-2462 prior to the start of the first academic term.
Four-Year Rule
An unemancipated minor may be classified as a Colorado resident if:
- the minor’s parent(s) had a Colorado domicile for at least four year before moving to another state and
- the minor had attended a Colorado high school for at least three years and
- the minor enrolled in a Colorado public college or university within 3 years and six months after the minor’s parent(s) left Colorado.
Applicants are required to provide proof of high school attendance to the Office of Admissions at info@csupueblo.edu or 719-549-2462 prior to the start of the first academic term.
Economic Incentive Programs
A student may be eligible for in state tuition if the student’s current employer relocated company operations to Colorado as a result of receiving an incentive from the Colorado Office of Economic Development if:
- the student was employed at the same company prior to relocation, and
- the student has established domicile in Colorado as defined by state statute.
Relocating Companies
In-state tuition can be granted to an employee and an employee’s children who moved to Colorado in the 12 calendar months preceding enrollment as a result of an employer move to Colorado. Applicants must provide documentation that the company relocated to Colorado as a result of receiving:
- an incentive from Colorado office of economic development or
- an incentive from a local government economic incentive program
Applicants are required to provide proof of relocation and Colorado domicile to the Office of Admissions at info@csupueblo.edu or 719-549-2462 prior to the start of the first academic term.
Dependent Children of New Faculty
Dependent children of new faculty qualify for in-state tuition.
A faculty member is defined as an academic faculty with regular and special appointments of 50% time or greater. Adjunct faculty and administrative professionals do not qualify.
A dependent child must be:
- unmarried
- enrolled as an undergraduate student
- under the age of 23 on or before the first term of enrollment at Colorado State University Pueblo.
